Ok last night went trhough and did all the adjustments on the video and checked them against the manual.
Harley clutch cable adjustment all the way out.
It is a 100 cu inch rev tech 6 speed rt transmission.
Left for work this am got abount 20 miles out 1 4 the way and the the clutch started slipping if i was putting any strain going up hill or suden excelleration it would wind out then engage turned around and it surged all the way home.
Adjustment of clutch and cable does not help 4.
Harley clutch seems to not completely disengage.
Hard to get in neutral 3.
Before you can adjust slack into the clutch cable you have to first roll back the jam nut that holds it in place.
Primary oil mobile 1 20w50 5.
Me i would collapse the cable and run the adjuster in til it seats and give it a couple of turns in to seperate the clutch plates.
Collapse the cable first then run the adjuster in.
Back it off completely so that the adjuster spins freely then adjust til light pressure and back off 3 4 turn.
Often cable adjustments are made to vary the amount of friction zone or get more pull when shifting begins to slip.
Clutch pack loos good fiber plates look good steel plates have a dark blue color any suggestions.
So the cable sheath is the outside black vinyl part that the cable runs through.
Because if your clutch is not fully engaged it s going to slip and if it slips it s going to wear out faster and keep your bike from transferring its full power to the wheel.
As you get close to the lever being in its fully extended position continue removeing slack from the cable adjuster use a dime as a gauge between the clutch lever and the clutch perch to.
Remove the slack from the cable adjuster watching the clutch lever move as you do this.
Slight clutch adjustments can be made at the cable at the front of the bike.
Be sure to take the clutch cable adjuster all the way to the point that it bottoms out thus releasing all tension on the clutch cable.
I cannot adjust all of the slack out of the clutch cable there is still approx 1 2 inch left at the clutch lever so i adjust the allen screw at the clutch pack in until the rest of the slack comes out at the clutch lever but then clutch lever will not pull in.
Remove the clutch cover aka the derby cover.
Hi michael a proper clutch adjustment for big twins starts by squirting some silicone spray or brake kleen into the top of the rubber boot on the clutch cable and sliding it back exposing the cable adjuster.
When i say full or complete adjustment it means adjusting the clutch inside of the primary at the clutch basket.
